Music Man

Tonight, Bundle and I were headed out to the back porch to plant some flowers and herbs. He was all excited because we had the little hand shovel and some buckets of dirt. He loves a new project and is an enthusiastic little helper. He got delayed in coming out the door, though, so I went in to see what was going on. He had run over to the refrigerator to grab his little music machine to bring out on the porch with us.

As soon as he got out there, he set it down next to me and pressed the music button so that it would play the first song. Before each song ended, or right after it ended, he would stop whatever he was doing to rush over and press the button. I smiled at him and told him, "You know, I was just thinking how fun it would be to have music playing out here while we're working." He looked up and gave me a huge smile! MELT MY HEART! He is such a music lover and so sensitive to know when to play it (most of the time, in this household).

And to top things off, he really was a huge help planting the flowers. He carried off all the empty flower containers and made his own little project out of them. He also re-arranged the flower pots on the porch to an order that more suited his sensibilities. I don't know how I would do these things without his observant eye.

You melt MY heart with your descriptive revelations that help me somehow be a part of his (and your) life even tho SO FAR AWAY. How precious he is. How I love it that music is embedded in him. And that you, my dearest little mother, are so patient and lovingly indulgent with him. I love you. Mom

Oh Bundle the Music Man. What a precious story told by a precious mother. I'm so glad the music machine is a hit. Isn't it just the best to see them starting to take more control of their environments? So much personality busting out of them right now. We are so lucky to witness all of it. Miss y'all terribly. Love you more!

Thank you for sharing such a "melt-worthy" story. I'm sending you "oohs" and "aahs" from Tx along with a very big hug for you and Bundle! Contessa loves her music too--esp. the little tape player my mom gave her with my old tapes of children's hymns and silly songs.
