Thoughts of a mother on this Wednesday...

  • Napping is from heaven.
  • I'm totally on top of my game today... then they all three start screaming at once. My game suddenly looks more like puzzle pieces dumped out on the floor waiting to be placed in their correct positions. Tomorrow is another day.
  • My hair can look good in another season of life, right?
  • How is it possible to feel this much love someone so incredibly tiny? It's kind of overwhelming.
  •  Dinner? How about cold cereal?
  • They are brothers, but they are so different! We really are made uniquely and it's exquisite.
  • I used to think keeping up with my animals was a challenge.
  • Yes, the laundry is soured again. Deal with it.
  • I don't think you can actually prepare for parenthood... you just do it and He gives you the strength you need to make it happen (though it doesn't always happen well, that's true).
  • Celtic Music via Pandora: the recipe for happy dances in the living room today. Makes me smile.
  • If I could, I would just sit and watch them all day long: Tiger sprinting hither and yon, embracing everything with enthusiasm and with his Hun-Hun in tow. Pauge toddling on two feet like a little drunk man, balancing himself carefully between each step... looking back with a proud smile to make sure I'm watching. Lochlan holding his head up (already!), hands folded on his tummy, his little blue eyes trying to follow the flurry of activity about him.
  • Dogs fed and pottied: check. Kids fed and diapers changed: check. Laundry out of washing machine and on clothes line to dry: check. Naps had by all who will have them (excluding Mommy): check. Kitchen cleaned: check. Plan for dinner: check. Cookies made (maybe not baked, but cookie dough is better anyway): check. Mission accomplished.

McGary Boys = Three

Our little Lochlan arrived 11 days early! I was both horrified ("Oh my gosh, I still have so much to do... we just moved in... I'm not even finished unpacking boxes... and everyone is fighting off a cold, how can this baby be coming today???") and relieved. Our boys have always come late, so this was definitely a surprise. The labor was the best yet - not too fast, not too slow. It lasted a total of 11 hours, with only 15 minutes of pushing. He arrived on 10/10, at 2:02 and weighed in at 8.8. Awesome! He was born with a head full of black hair and a husky little voice. He started nursing immediately, much to my relief and has been a hearty eater since he arrived. I started hemorrhaging shortly after his birth which lead to 2 hours of terror, but they were finally able to assess the cause and I didn't have to undergo emergency surgery as the doctors originally feared.
He has been the model baby so far. He is snugly and soft and is always in someone's arms because he simply can't be resisted. His brothers adore him - and I mean ADORE. Madigan always asks about him first when he wakes up in the morning: "Baby Wochwan awake?" Declan frequently WALKS (Yes, the boy finally found his legs) across the room to lay his head up against Lochlan and cuddle. They are the best big brothers!

Today Lochlan is fighting off this wretched cold which we all tried so hard not to pass along to him, but he is resting well and eating well so we will weather through it.

Boys in the pumpkin patch

I love you big brother

He is such a loving boy!

Hello, Lochlan James! Welcome to this big world.

Sweet Baby

There are three boys in this picture, but one is hard to spot...

That handsome face!
I will post more later... seems almost impossible even to sit down these days, let alone post something. Here are some photos that Mom took during a few of our outings while she was here. They are but a hand full of delicious images that she captured during her stay.
