Fancy is so close to delivering her first baby. I am trying not to get too anxious and pretending not to worry, but it's been 11 years since we had a baby horse and now my baby is having a baby!
So here's for update number 1:
She has gotten noticeably rounder in the past two weeks, with her belly dropping lower each day.
The baby is still kicking fiercely.
Her appetite is decreasing, so that she is now eating smaller, more frequent meals, presumably because the baby is crowding out room for more.
Her due date is set to fall somewhere between January 30th-February 5th.
I've stopped riding her, though I'm still teaching my small students on her, because she's just too heavy to be comfortable with an adult on her back.
She's starting to get milk.
The photo is Daniel riding Fancy in the middle of December. What a difference a few weeks can make!
