Unfettered

 

2026. I didn't stay up until midnight to welcome in the new year - the party animal in me has either given way to sensibility or perhaps (more likely) never existed. However, I did awaken in the wee hours of this new year with my mind at a full gallop. 

I am so thankful we are not able to know what tomorrow holds. We make plans, we build dreams, we are driven by hope. History (my own, as well as the history of humanity as a whole) assures me that we will be surprised, disappointed, overwhelmed by circumstances but also by joy, we will do what is impossible sometimes, we will find peace when we are not looking for it. 

I pray this year that I come to understand the depth and complexity of love - Divine and otherwise - more profoundly, in the various facets that I do not currently comprehend. May the things that try to break us this year make us stronger and richer in understanding/wisdom. 

I pray, as I climb the mountains ahead, to be unfettered from fear; I want to be propelled by determination and fueled by perseverance.
